Download our pilot issue

To give you an idea of what we're trying to accomplish with MODELx, we've made our pilot issue available as a free PDF download.

To keep the file size reasonable (it's 8MB), there are far fewer pages than are planned for a regular issue and we've lowered the quality of the images within. Please keep in mind as you review this downloaded version that our goal is to bring you nothing but the finest quality photographs of models. There will be no compromises in image quality in the printed version!

We welcome your comments, criticism and suggestions about the pilot issue. You can send them to our editor at any time.

Inside the pilot issue

  • Mike Rinaldi's 1/72 F4U Corsair
Mike demonstrates his painting and weathering techniques on Tamiya's Bent-Winged Bird!
  • Mike Kirchoff's 1/48 Jagdpanzer 38T Hetzer
Aftermarket? No way! Mike adds nothing but scratchbuilt details to this diminutive tank destroyer!

  • Jeff Herne's 1/72 USS Mingo
Who said 1/72 was small scale? Jeff's USS Mingo is 53" long. Jeff converts the Revell kit into a late-war Gato-class submarine.

  • It's all in the details
Pat Stansell brings us four pages of Sherman T23 turret details!

  • Plus...
More details! - ModelX sent staff member Mike Rinaldi to England, and what does he photograph? A Spitfire, of course! See four pages of Mk.22/24 Spitfire details!
